SNAP-8

SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is a synthetic eight-amino-acid peptide developed as a longer derivative of a SNARE protein-targeting peptide. Its sequence is related to acetyl hexapeptide, and in the cosmetology and cell biology literature it is studied as a molecular tool in models of expression-wrinkle formation. PeptXBio supplies it as a lyophilised powder, ready for laboratory work.

Quality and purity

≥99% purity (HPLC). High-grade laboratory lyophilised powder, analytically verified and produced in stable, mutually consistent batches so that research results are reproducible.

Specifications

  • CAS number: 868844-74-0
  • Molecular formula: C₄₂H₇₂N₁₆O₁₅S
  • Molecular weight: 1073.2 g/mol
  • Amino acid sequence: Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH₂ (Ac-EEMQRRAD-NH₂)
  • Peptide chain: 8 amino acids

Why it is studied

In research, SNAP-8 is examined for its interaction with SNARE complex proteins, especially SNAP-25, which take part in cellular vesicle docking and externalisation. In vitro models study how the peptide may modulate the assembly of this complex, and with it the signalling pathways associated with skin wrinkle formation. Such experiments are carried out only in the context of cellular and laboratory systems, with the aim of understanding molecular mechanisms. This information is provided for research context only and is not an instruction for use.

Reconstitution

For laboratory work, the lyophilised powder is usually dissolved in bacteriostatic water by gently swirling the vial until a uniform solution forms – do not shake vigorously. The prepared stock solution is kept cold and used according to the research protocol. All amounts and concentrations are set within the experimental plan.

What you get

  • Active substance: acetyl octapeptide-3 (SNAP-8)
  • Form: lyophilised powder
  • Amount per vial: 10 mg
  • Solvent (sold separately): bacteriostatic water

Storage

Keep the unopened vial in a refrigerator (2–8 °C), or in a freezer (−20 °C) for longer storage, protected from light. Once reconstituted in bacteriostatic water, keep it refrigerated and use it within the time set out in your research protocol.

Important

For in vitro scientific research only. Not for use on humans or animals; this is not a medicine, dietary supplement or cosmetic product.

Frequently asked questions

SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is a synthetic eight-amino-acid peptide (sequence Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH2) belonging to the group of SNARE protein-targeting peptides. Its sequence is related to the N-terminal region of the SNAP-25 protein. In in vitro research models, the compound is studied for its interaction with SNARE complex proteins, especially SNAP-25, which take part in cellular vesicle docking and externalisation. Cellular and cell-free systems are used to examine how the peptide may competitively modulate the assembly of this complex. This information is provided for research context only and is not an instruction for use.

In the laboratory, SNAP-8 is used as a molecular tool for studying the mechanisms of SNARE complex assembly. In vitro models examine the dynamics of vesicle docking and externalisation, the interaction of SNAP-25 protein fragments within the complex, and structure–activity relationships (SAR) between peptides matching the sequence. Such experiments are carried out only in the context of cellular and cell-free biochemical systems, with the aim of understanding molecular signalling pathways. All studies are limited to a laboratory, in vitro setting.

The product is supplied as a lyophilised powder. Each vial contains 10 mg of the active substance – acetyl octapeptide-3 (SNAP-8). Purity ≥99% (HPLC). For laboratory work, the powder is usually reconstituted in bacteriostatic water (sold separately) by gently swirling the vial until a uniform solution forms – do not shake vigorously. All amounts and concentrations are set within the experimental plan.

Keep the unopened vial of dry lyophilised powder in a refrigerator (+2 to +8 °C), protected from light. For longer storage, a freezer (−20 °C) is recommended. Keep the reconstituted solution (dissolved in bacteriostatic water) refrigerated and use it within the time set out in your research protocol. Avoid repeated thaw–freeze cycles.

In in vitro research, SNAP-8 is most often studied in the context of models of the SNARE complex and the SNAP-25 protein, together with other SNARE-targeting peptides of the same class (e.g. derivatives of the acetyl hexapeptide sequence), comparing structure–activity relationships. Methodologically, it is combined with biochemical binding assays and systems for analysing cellular vesicle externalisation. The specific combination depends on the aim of the study; no doses or usage instructions are given.

Absolutely not. This product is sold exclusively for laboratory research and scientific experiments. It is not intended for human or animal consumption and is not a medicine, dietary supplement or cosmetic product.
