Epithalon

Epithalon (AEDG) is a synthetic tetrapeptide made up of the four amino acids Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is a synthetic analogue of epithalamin, a natural pineal gland polypeptide, designed as a stable molecule with a defined structure. PeptXBio supplies it as a high-grade laboratory lyophilised powder, ready for research.

Quality and purity

≥99% purity (HPLC). High-grade lyophilised powder, analytically verified and with consistent batch characteristics, making it suitable for reproducible laboratory experiments.

Specifications

  • CAS number: 307297-39-8
  • Molecular formula: C14H22N4O9
  • Molecular weight: 390.35 g/mol
  • Amino acid sequence: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG)
  • Peptide chain: 4 amino acids (tetrapeptide)

Why it is studied

In the scientific literature, Epithalon is studied for its possible effect on telomerase enzyme activity and on telomere length dynamics in cell cultures. In vitro models examine its interaction with cellular ageing (senescence) and proliferation pathways, as well as in the context of pineal peptide signalling mechanisms. These studies are carried out on isolated cells and tissue cultures to characterise molecular processes under laboratory conditions. This information is provided for research context only and is not an instruction for use.

Reconstitution

For laboratory use, the lyophilised powder is usually dissolved in bacteriostatic water. The solvent is allowed to run down the side of the vial, and the solution is mixed by slow swirling, avoiding shaking, so that the peptide is not subjected to mechanical stress. The prepared stock solution is kept cold according to the research protocol.

What you get

  • Active substance: Epithalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly)
  • Form: lyophilised powder
  • Amount per vial: 50 mg
  • Solvent (sold separately): bacteriostatic water

Storage

Keep the unopened vial in a refrigerator (2–8 °C), or in a freezer (−20 °C) for longer storage, protected from light. Once reconstituted in bacteriostatic water, keep it refrigerated and use it within the time set out in your research protocol.

Important

For in vitro scientific research only. Not for use on humans or animals; this is not a medicine, dietary supplement or cosmetic product.

Frequently asked questions

Epithalon (Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) modelled on a pineal peptide found naturally in the body. In scientific research it is studied for its possible effect on the activity of telomerase – the enzyme responsible for maintaining the length of chromosome telomeres.

Epithalon is studied for its possible effects on slowing cellular ageing, on melatonin production and on circadian rhythm regulation. It is widely used in experiments on the mechanisms of biological ageing and on telomere biology.

Our Epithalon is a lyophilised powder. Each vial contains 50 mg of peptide.

Keep the vials in a refrigerator at +2 °C to +8 °C, protected from light. The reconstituted solution is stable for up to 7 days at +4 °C.
